BUILDING C8, PONÁVKA
Building C8, built in 1922, is a good example of a historical building that can defend its original historical substance when meeting today’s requirements for wholesale and logistics. Reconstruction and extension of the building were completed in 2020, allowing its further use for current tenants. Office spaces in combination with retail and storage areas have been preserved.
Reconstruction of building C8 fits into an overall concept of revitalization of the area of the former meat and starch factories by the Ponávka River. Studio acht has been dealing with this revitalization since 2013. Besides new development, preservation and reconstruction of industrial buildings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries has been achieved, including giving the buildings new purpose such as office spaces, retail or development centres with an industrial spirit. In the next phase a greater use of the banks of the Ponávka River is planned i.e. for cycle paths.
