BOCHNER PALACE

zavřít projekt

This neo-renaissance palace by Bochner brothers Theodor and Edmund, was built in Brno between 1864-67, by Austrian builder Josef Arnold. It served as an office building for the adjacent factory today known as Vlněna. The palace is eye-catching with its burly main façade and classical partition into three zones.

RECONSTRUCTION

Despite being listed for demolition, after long deliberation the client decided to preserve and reconstruct the palace. The most important part of the reconstruction was the securing of the substructure and roof structure due to significant structural problems. During the reconstruction, preserved original stucco ceilings, a complete staircase and valuable weight-bearing structures on the ground floor were discovered. The ground floor will offer space for a café, while the upper floors will offer office spaces.

Bochners palace is an important urban element of the Vlněna area. Its significance is amplified by the newly widened Přízova Street, which leads to the palace from the main train station.
