NATIONAL MUSEUM

The building of the National Museum was built during1885-1890, according to a design by the architect Josef Schulze. Its neo-renaissance palace architecture represented the increasing prestige of the Czech nation. It is now a listed building and underwent a complete renovation in 2015 that lasted four years.

Studio acht handled the building envelope (carried out for design manager VPÚ Deco Praha), which focused on the façade, including Arts and Crafts elements of stone, plaster and stucco, as well as sculptural and painted decorations, for which preliminary restoration plans were formulated. We were also involved in the reconstruction of the roof towers, handling the structure and roofing of the cupolas.
